Second Three Year Programme with China
The Second 3-Year Cooperation Programme of 6-Year Cooperation Plan Between Department of Education, Personnel of Ministry of Construction (DEP, MOC) of the People's Republica of China and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) The United Kingdon
The Objectives:
To raise quality of Chinese construction management education to a level which can be accredited at an International standard so that improving progressively the overall standard of management in the construction industry in China.
To establish professional accreditation system in China through a better comprehensive and adaptable the educational provision for construction management in the UK. In 1999, at least 4 Universities have been accredited. The second group will be accredited in the year 2001.
To achieve International mutual recognition for accreditation of Construction Management degree courses to be accredited by the China National Board of Construction Management Accreditation (NBCMA) and CIOB Recognition of Awards Division (ROAD) by 2002.
The Second 3-Year Main Activities:
2000
CIOB (Mr Michael Brown) visits China in April 2000
Discussed and reviewed first 3-year programme and confirm and sign Sino-British collaboration plan in Construction Management of second 3-year cooperation programmes.
In May, CIOB President and Executive Director visit China to discuss the cooperation between the CIOB and DEP, MOC and sign the second 3-year cooperation programme.
In November, DEP,MOC send 2 members from NBCMA to visit UK as observers of UK Universities' accreditation and participate in the meeting of ROAD.
2001
In June, CIOB send 2-3 experts to China as observers to participate in Universities' accreditation site visit.
In October, the DEP,MOC and CIOB together organise seminar on construction management education, professional training and practice for the new century. The topics will focus on construction management education, education accreditation and professional training. Participants are about 60 persons, 40 from China, 20 from UK and other countries:
In November, DEP,MOC send 2-3 members from NBCMA to visit the UK and participate in the ROAD annual meeting as observers and also participate with other accreditation bodies.
2002
In April, DEP,MOC will send 4 people from NBCMA to visit UK as observers. The visit will focus on professional education accreditation, professional training and recognition issues.
In October, CIOB delegation visit China and sign the mutual recognition agreement in construction management programme accredited by ROAD in UK and NBCMA in China. The main tasks are to sign the agreement, review the cooperation programme in the past 6 years and discuss and plan the future co-operation programme.
The Finance:
The cost produced by cooperation activities would follow the principle of equity. Also, two sides try to get the funding from the British Council.
