What the Builder Should Expect

Remember that any legal agreement entered into binds not only the builder, but also you as the client.

Many disputes arise due to mixed messages from the client, so remember that you have a responsibility to ensure the work goes smoothly as well.

Throughout the process, the best way to avoid problems is to maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the builder.

The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 requires traders to provide services to a proper standard of workmanship. Furthermore, if a definite completion date or a price has not been fixed then the work must be completed within a reasonable time and for a reasonable charge.
