Library and Information Services Executive (LIS00124)
The Library and Information Services (LIS) resource is a key tool in terms of providing a research and education facility to meet the information needs of our members, who in turn go on to develop and enhance the industry for the public good. The Library currently holds more than 60,000 global publications, including: academic and industry research, codes of practice, technical guidance papers, theses and journals, management books and DVDs.
Recently, the service has focused on providing online and interactive media, including e-journals and provisions to make e-books and research databases available online - bringing the service right up-to-date and making information more accessible to all members, both in the UK and overseas.
The LIS Executive role will co-ordinate the daily operation of the LIS, with responsibility for developing the Library collection and maintaining the online resources and associated facilities.
Cataloguing and classification, Thesaurus development and budget administration are also part of the role.
The successful candidate will likely have a post-graduate qualification in Library or information work or demonstrable equivalent. A proficient user of IT systems, with good information management skills (traditional and modern techniques) and the ability to prioritise and manage own workload and supervise others.
