The Western Centre, in conjunction with Irish Concrete Federation, is holding a presentation on Low Energy Concrete Homes on 30th March at 7:30pm in LIT, Limerick.

The speaker for the evening is Liam Smyth, Head of Marketing & Technical at the Irish Concrete Federation.  Mr. Smyth has recently treated our Eastern Centre members to a visit to Ireland’s first Zero Carbon Emissions concrete house, located in Co. Westmeath.  The feedback was positive and members found the ambitious project very interesting.

At the event he will discuss the key sustainable benefits of concrete, building regulations, steps to achieving an A-rated home, among other relevant topics.

Booking fee is €5.00 per person, which is payable at the door, and free entry for Students.  This is event open to both CIOB members and non-members.

For further information or to book your place please contact Priscila Giuriato - Centre Administrator at pgiuriato@ciob.org.uk

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Irish Concrete Federation and Limerick Institute of Technology for their support on this event.

Other Information:

Why should I attend?
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) continuing professional development (CPD) workshops are practical, interactive training events that aim to develop attendees’ capabilities in a specific area. They are designed to increase participants’ value to their companies, progress their careers and increase opportunities.

What will I achieve?
The workshops have set objectives that enable attendees to take away new skills and knowledge, which they can then apply in their professional capacity. Training is supported by comprehensive notes to aid dissemination.

What can I expect?
The events usually focus on one topic and encourage active participation through a stimulating mix of panel discussions, group exercises, breakout sessions and presentations. The workshops take an informal approach and delegate numbers are kept low to promote discussion and participation. They also provide an excellent networking opportunity. They are led by CIOB members or external speakers from leading companies and organisations.
