This site visit to the Smart House project will focus on all aspects of retro fit improvements to local authority social housing.

The Smart House project is an innovative retro fit improvement scheme, designed by The Facility, Architects and Consultants, to upgrade poor SAP rated social housing properties to achieve a 40% reduction on energy bills.

A buffet will be provided from 18.00 with the presentation commencing at 18.30.  George Avery, Asset Manager of South Essex Homes, will outline the project and will be followed by presentations from each of the improvement specialisms - mini CHO; PV panels; air source heat pumps; thermodynamics; LED lighting; triple glazed windows; solar thermal; external insulations and voltage optimisation.

There will then be the opportunity to visit the Eco Hut which is a central meeting point for the project and to view the types of properties included  with installation works in progress.

South Essex Homes have linked with the University of East London to carry out both energy saving and tenant perception monitoring of the new systems over the next three years, post installation.

Please note that street parking is available close to the meeting point.
