Full Terms and Conditions for The Chartered Institute of Building "Power Generation Challenge” at Ecobuild 2008

Full Terms and Conditions

1.      Open to EcoBuild 2008 delegates excluding employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or anyone professionally connected with the Power Generation Challenge competition.

2.      The term of the Power Generation Challenge period is from the 26th February to the 28th February and closing date for entering the competition is at 4.00 pm on February 28th

3.      The prize comprises of one folding bicycle and bicycle helmet.  No cash alternative will be offered and prizes may differ from those shown in any promotional material.

4.      This competition is open only to participants who have filled in and signed the valid entry card and completed the Power Generation Challenge at Ecobuild 2008.

5.      By signing the form at Ecobuild, you agree to take the 1 minute Power Generation Challenge at your own risk. The CIOB are not responsible for any injury or accident that may occur to the participant or anyone in the vicinity of the challenge.

6.      For a chance to win, entrants must take part in the Power Generation Challenge, on the CIOB stand (E540) at Ecobuild 2008, and light up all four houses in under one minute, using only pedal power from the exercise bike in the Power Generation Challenge area.

7.      This is a competition of skill and as such, the winner will be the person who completes the Power Generation Challenge in the fastest time. In the event of a tie, a winner will be drawn at random by an independent adjudicator.

8.      The prize winner will be notified in the first instance by either phone or e-mail by the Promoter on Wednesday the 5th March, and followed up in writing. The prize must be collected within two months of this notification. If after two months, the prize has not been claimed, the competition becomes null and void, and all prizes become the property of the Promoter.

9.      Prizes must be collected from The CIOB, Englemere, Kings Ride, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 7TB. If the claimant is unable to arrange pickup of the prize from this address, the Promoter will contribute up to £50.00 of shipping costs to send the prize to the winner. Any shortfall in postage costs must be met by the prize winner.

10.    The bike is covered by a warranty. Any repairs or faults that occur outside the warranty period is the responsibility of the winner.

11.   The Promoter shall have the right, where necessary, to undertake all such action as is reasonable to protect itself against fraudulent or invalid claims including, without limitation, to require such further verification as to the identity and details of the prize winner and/or the verification as to their qualifying entry form.

12.   The Promoter is not liable for non or late receipt of any entry/application nor for any associated cost to claimants.

13.   Entry forms that have been altered, defaced, amended, damaged or not printed for use in this competition will be classed as invalid.

14.   The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

15.   Winners may be required to participate in publicity.

16.   Details of the winner and a full list of participants in the Power Generation Challenge can be obtained by writing to P&ER Department, The CIOB, Englemere, Kings Ride, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 7TB, marked “Power Generation Challenge”.

17.   This competition cannot be combined with any other promotion or incentive being offered by the CIOB.

18.   Void where prohibited by law, or where otherwise restricted.

19.   By entering this competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Any breach of the terms and conditions may, at the Promoter’s discretion, result in cancellation of the prize being awarded.

20.   Any data about you will be gathered and retained solely for the purpose of sending you relevant information if you have requested it. Your details will be held securely by the Promoter and will be used only for the purposes outlined by this disclaimer. CIOB processes all personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
