During King Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries, the land at Christchurch Park was purchased by Sir Edmund Withipoll who built Christchurch Mansion in 1548-50. The ground floor remains largely as he left it.
This wonderful Grade I listed building, houses a collection of pottery and glass, a contemporary art gallery and a collection of paintings by artists including John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough. Some of the rooms are preserved as past inhabitants would have known them. Chirstchurch Mansion is owned by the town.

This visit will take place on Wednesday 15th June at 6.00pm prompt.

Hilary Brightman, the Architect, will give a talk on the building works which have been and are going to be carried out to the Mansion.   One of the property's Tour Guides will then give a tour of this magnificent building.  There will also be representatives from R & J Hogg Limited and R.G. Carters who will have literature available showing details of some other projects they have worked on.

Teas and coffees have also been organised.

There is some evening parking behind the Mansion (Bolton Lane entrance to the Park).

To book your place please email Mandy Rix on mrix@ciob.org.uk now or phone John Norman on 07521 469602.  Guests are most welcome.
