The essential requirement is the ability to demonstrate (graphically, orally and in writing) that the understanding, appreciation and application of engineering principles developed during an aspiring candidate's career matches that of a contemporary who did obtain a recognised academic qualification.

Course Objective:
This particular course is intended to cover the pre-interview aspects of the preparation.
A subsequent course may be offered to assist aspiring Members to prepare for the interviews and the written assignment.
Tutors:
Either:
Mike Mann - ICE Reviewer and former ICE Regional Liaison Officer
Or:
Richard Larcombe - ICE Reviewer and former Director of Qualifications at ICE.
Both Mike and Richard have been instrumental in the development and the implementation of the TRR initiative.
The course can be delivered anywhere in the UK to candidates working across the public and private sectors of the civil engineering and allied professional areas.
Course Content:
· An in-depth study of the TRR process
· What are engineering principles?
· What are the academic benchmarks that you have to match?
· What is meant by academic equivalence and engineering knowledge and application - how to identify and demonstrate it
· The importance of your Mentor
· The Stage 1 submission:
o Your CV
o Your Technical Report synopsis
o Your mentor support
· The Stage 2 submission:
o Your full Technical Report
o Your Experience Report
o Your CPD plans & records
· Your presentation
· The Academic interview
· The Professional interview
· The written assignment
Delegates should be familiar with ICE 3001 (Routes to membership) and ICE 3006 (Continuing Professional Development) and bring these documents with them. They should also have studied ICE's Membership Guidance Note 35, and bring this with them. All the ICE 3000 series documents and membership guidance notes are available on the ICE website, www.ice.org.uk. (Note: the relevant documents for TMICE candidates are ICE 3002, ICE 3006 and MGN 36.)
You will have the opportunity to discuss with your tutor and with fellow delegates how you can:· review and select your key achievements
· identify the core engineering principles that you know, understand and have applied
· demonstrate these engineering principles in your reports, in your presentation and at interview.
