A one day course aimed at providing an insight into the traffic signals field briefly covering all design related aspects.
 
Course Objectives:

The course will discuss the various topics without getting into too much detail. The idea is that delegates will go away from the course with a significant amount of basic knowledge, which will enable them to discuss traffic signal related issues more easily with other parties.

Course Outline:

The course covers the definitions and applications of fundamental terms used in traffic signal design which can be grouped into the following main areas:-
·         Signal Control
o        Stages
o        Phases
o        Intergreens
o        Phase Delays
o        Interstages
·         An introduction to the Design process - from conception to commissioning
·         Basic Signal Design Theory
·         A brief introduction to Software Applications
o        LINSIG for Windows
o        TRANSYT/TranEd
o        SigRound
o        Microsimulation (VISSIM, Paramics)
·         A brief overview of general items
o        Detection (loops, Microwave vehicle Detectors)
o        Coordination (CLF, UTC, SCOOT)
o        MOVA

Intended for:

The course is aimed at Traffic Engineers and Graduates at the beginning of their careers to give them an understanding of the Traffic Signal field.
