Testimonials from delegates on previous courses:
- The content and style of presentation for both courses were very well received and appreciated" - Quintin Murfin, Principal Engineer, PSD, Jersey.
- The courses are indispensable to passing the CPR and I would state that they are the two most valuable courses I have attended. I will continue to recommend highly these courses whenever possible" - Stephen Burns, Mott McDonald, Belfast.
Why 46 Topics? To understand the answer to that question you need to go back thirty years to the mid-seventies. The Council for Engineering Institutions (CEI) was concerned that Engineers were far too introspective - too preoccupied with their slide rules and drawing boards with very little perception of wider horizons! So the ICE prescribed that aspiring Chartered engineers should prepare answers to "48" Questions. The technology may have changed but the reality is that engineers are still lacking a broad awareness of their impact on the community at large and have an under developed ability to influence opinion outside their narrow technical sphere.
All our tutors involved with this seminar see it as an ideal opportunity to work with those attending to develop their opinions and encourage them to think much more laterally about the underlying aspects of the Topics. To achieve this, the course has to be very interactive providing delegates with the chance to hone their opinions and develop their self-confidence to be able to express them.
At the end of this seminar, you should have far more conviction about "the social value of your work" and be able to "uphold these views in discussion with laymen".
All 46 Topics will be covered during the course of this seminar.
The tutors are highly qualified in their fields, covering all aspects of the Civil Engineer's role, they have experience as a Supervising Civil Engineer and as an ICE Reviewer.
