The NEC 3, New Engineering Contract has been adopted by Government in the UK as their preferred document for Contracting. This is a government driven initiative designed to achieve excellence in the Construction Industry. They are seeking to use it for an integrated approach as the forms are capable of dealing with a supply chain which is stable and allows them to assess design quality.
In addition to his procurement role for Mott McDonald, Richard Patterson acts as a consultants to NEC. He has 19 years procurement experience under his belt using all major UK and overseas model forms for works contracts but specialises in NEC and target contracts.
Barry Trebes is joint author of the 5 NEC 'Manuals' publications and has wide-ranging experience in the commercial management of large projects. He has provided NEC ECC training to LUL, BAA plc, CECA and numerous other organisations and is a Fellow of the APM as well as a member of the NEC user group.
