How, why and where was it used? Over 6 million tonnes of asbestos was imported into the UK last century, most of it is still in older buildings and structures, an estimated 4.4 million premises in the UK. In National Health & Safety Week, Shield Environmental Services and the CIOB Dorset Centre present an Introduction to Asbestos, by Kevin Staniforth - Shield’s Training Manager. Kevin will give a short presentation on the subject of asbestos and some key regulations contained within The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 (CAR 06). Kevin has extensive experience as an asbestos surveyor and analyst and is currently training blue chip clients in asbestos awareness, asbestos management and works on non-licensed products.
