Have you wondered what a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) is? Is it just paperwork? What is a good SWMP? How do I write one? And how could it save me money?
If so, you may wish to attend a free seminar arranged by the Chartered Institute of Building, Somerset County Council,Envirowise and the Environment Agency.
Specifically designed for construction companies (in particular small- and medium-sized enterprises), design teams, CDM coordinators, building merchants and the waste industry., this morning seminar will outline the basics on preparing an SWMP and offer expert guidance. The event will include a local case study and a practical exercise for you to try writing an SWMP yourself.
Supporting better understanding of SWMPs and improved resource efficiency in the C+D sector across Somerset, the event will offer a great opportunity to network with others who may be facing similar issues, such as finding the space to separate materials and getting buy-in from sub-contractors.
The seminar will be run on three separate dates and locations in Somerset to include Tuesday 6th October and Thursday 3rd December (please see other web pages for these dates). Places are limited, so book early to avoid
disappointment
Why should I attend?
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) continuing professional development (CPD) workshops are practical, interactive training events that aim to develop attendees’ capabilities in a specific area. They are designed to increase participants’ value to their companies, progress their careers and increase opportunities.
What will I achieve?
The workshops have set objectives that enable attendees to take away new skills and knowledge, which they can then apply in their professional capacity. Training is supported by comprehensive notes to aid dissemination.
What can I expect?
The events usually focus on one topic. Typical subject areas include effective management, communication and presentation skills, finance and procurement, strategic planning or health and safety.
CPD workshops encourage active participation through a stimulating mix of panel discussions, group exercises, breakout sessions and presentations.
The workshops take an informal approach and delegate numbers are kept low to promote discussion and participation. They also provide an excellent networking opportunity.
They are led by CIOB members or external speakers from leading companies and organisations. Workshops usually range from one to two days in length.
Who should attend?
CIOB CPD events are open to members and non-members who want to refresh, improve or gain skills and knowledge that are necessary to develop their careers.
Previous delegates have ranged from senior management to graduate trainees.
