Why should I attend?
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)  membership workshops aim to provide information on the requirements for, and the various routes into, membership. They are designed to answer any questions and remove the anxieties that surround all stages, from entry up to chartered membership.

What will I achieve?
The workshops provide a unique opportunity for participants to receive personal advice on, for example, the best route of entry into the CIOB, the application process and interviews. Individuals can also find out more about membership benefits and what is required of them once they are a chartered member.

Typical subject areas include the new structure for DMX, Scottish and National Vocational Qualifications (S/NVQs), the Professional Review, the Professional Development Programme, Fellowship and CIOB products such as CBCs  and Training Partnerships.

What can I expect?
The workshops typically involve a presentation followed by a question and answer session. Others take a ‘surgery session’ format, where attendees can book individual appointments for advice.

CIOB representatives or external professionals – from organisations such as specialist recruiters or universities – lead the events and are available to provide relevant guidance.

The workshops take an informal approach and also provide an excellent networking opportunity. They may run for an evening or up to a day.

Who should attend?

The workshops are useful for individuals considering becoming a CIOB member or those who are keen to progress their existing membership.
