Why should I attend?

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) supports a number of events promoting careers in construction to students in schools, colleges and universities. They are designed to give young people a taste of the exciting and challenging opportunities available within the industry.

What will I achieve?

Students have an opportunity to speak to prospective employers and relevant training organisations. They can ask questions and receive practical advice and guidance on the types of careers available, required qualifications, training assistance, apprenticeships and much more.

What can I expect?

The events often offer an interesting mix of workshops and hands-on challenges led by industry professionals to encourage active participation. Teams from construction companies and organisations are present for attendees to approach for information about careers and training.

The events take an informal approach and also provide an opportunity for students to network with other like-minded young people.

Who should attend?

Young people with an interest in a career in the construction industry should attend these events. They are usually targeted towards school and college leavers, undergraduates and recent graduates.
