Dual Membership
Reciprocal Agreements
Dual Membership – the CIOB honour membership from similar Institutes, automatically providing membership into the CIOB at the same level. Other CIOB agreements i.e. Cooperative and Recognition are detailed seperately at International Agreements.
Please find below the route to membership procedures for the following Dual Membership agreements:
Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
Since 1997 the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists have worked together to strengthen the links between Construction Management and Architectural Technology.
The CIAT and CIOB renewed their partnership at EcoBuild 2010 which is renewed every 5 years. James Wates, President, CIOB said, “The construction industry is made up of many professions working together to develop, renew and improve the built environment now and for future generations. ‘Integrated Teams’ may seem like an overused phrase, but collaborative working between the professions is absolutely essential for our industry to meet the demands and challenges of economic recovery, and the creation of a sustainable future. That is why the CIOB takes pride in its partnership with CIAT.”
The alliance has benefits for members of both Institutes which include joint development and networking events in the UK and abroad, as well as a 25% reduction on the standard rate of membership for those wishing dual membership.
