Excellent visit to Altro Ltd

A party of 16 Bedfordshire Centre members and guests benefitted from a recent site visit to the Altro factory in Letchworth on Wednesday 25 January.
Terry Oakley introduced Altro Ltd, giving a broad background to the business, explaining how it is still a family run firm in private ownership despite employing some 650 people. Altro currently exports to 50 countries worldwide with their extensive range of products.
The group were given a factory tour where, due to current demand, the factory has two lines running at full capacity to provide its safety flooring products, working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week plus weekend working. A tour was also given of the area which deals with the technical aspects of the flooring, including cleaning, testing, maintenance and new developments.
The event conclude with a presentation by Robbie Johnson entitled “What can Altro do for you?”, which was of great interest and the Bedfordshire Committee would like to thank the whole team at Altro for a very worthwhile visit, enjoyed by all.
