Marks and Spencer offers free loft insulation to staff
16 February 2010

Marks and Spencer is to offer its staff free loft insulation as part of its ‘Plan A’ programme of environmental commitments.

All staff who have worked for M&S for at least a year will be eligible for the benefit, which is delivered in partnership with Scottish and Southern Energy. If they all take up the offer, the reduction in emissions will be the equivalent of taking 4,100 cars off the road, say the company.

Richard Gillies, Director of ‘Plan A’ at M&S, said: “We hope to create 30,000 green M&S ambassadors by offering this energy efficient solution free of charge to our employees. It will produce a significant cut in their carbon emissions, cut their energy bills and, we believe, inspire them to become advocates for energy efficiency.”

M&S has a specific department, M&S Energy, which aims to help customers save energy, with services including arranging loft insulation. It also is launching a range of green energy products such as solar panels and heat pumps. Find out more at www.mandsenergy.com
