Swansea took the lead with a stylish, high scoring display in the first round and held on to that lead for three rounds while Cardiff struggled to find top form.
As the friendly but competitive match continued, good average scores by a revived Cardiff team coupled with a lower scoring finish by Swansea enabled Cardiff to triumph at virtually the final fence and retain the trophy they recaptured last year.
