Wednesday, April 23, 2008
On 16 April the East Midlands Branch held its AGM at Leicester Racecourse where Barry Grimes welcomed everyone to the meeting and said that a year ago he had been honoured to become the Chair of the East Midlands Branch.
It has been a busy year for the region that have, as well as the CPD events, held their first Annual Dinner which was a great success. The excellent co-operation and active support from the committee and its members to the branch helped to make it a special event and this bodes well for the future.
Adrian Cox was nominated as Junior vice-chair for the Branch.
Clive Gillibrand stays as Branch Treasurer.
Mukesh Kashyap as Vice-Chair.
New members were welcomed in, including Ron Gatepain, Chris Bean (both from Lincoln) and Clare Howe, who will be assisting develop the region further and provide members with some great events to attend.
I would like to express my thanks to last year’s committee and welcome in the new members, hopefully this coming year can be even bigger and better, raising the CIOB profile in the East Midlands.
The Annual General Meeting was followed by a presentation by Samantha Peace HM Principal Inspector Construction Division – Presentation notes for Fit for Work, Fit for Life and Fit for tomorrow CDM 2007 will be available shortly on the website under the News section.
The Committee will soon be discussing the events calendar for 2009 so all suggestions for CPD are encouraged.
