The Hampshire Centre is in the process of establishing a Group for Students, CIOB Trainee Construction Professionals (regardless of age) and Chartered Builders Under 35 with its main aim to provide guidance and a support network for those mentioned.  The Group is to be named Gateway.

It is envisaged that the Group will provide a “meet and greet” service before certain CPD events as arranged by the main committee, arrange networking events, such as go-karting, bowling, golf clinics, etc and organise their own CPD events, as seen relevant to the Group, such as a review of the different routes into membership.  Joint event with other like-minded groups, such as the Matrics (RICS) are also to be considered.

The Group is to be headed up by Luke Smith MCIOB, a Graduate Quantity Surveyor at Davis Langdon, who will be reporting directly to the CIOB Hampshire Centre Committee.  He already has a small dedicated team, but would like to hear from members who are interested in giving up a bit of spare time to sit on the committee.  His email address is:  Luke.Smith@davislangdon.com

The Gateway Committee are planning to run their first event, an Inter-Professional Networking Evening on 25th July 2008 at Revolutions in Southampton.  Additional details will be sent to you, nearer the time, via email and listed on the Hampshire Centre webpage.  We hope that you will give them your support.

Additionally, the local Matrics group is holding an Inter-Professional Bowling Evening on Thursday 6th June – if you are interested in attending, please respond, as per the attached flyer, and when there, please make yourself known to Luke Smith.
