Architecture and Surveying Innovation Award
Sponsored by the Faculty of Architecture and Surveying (FAS)

This award is relevant to any organisation or project team that demonstrates how innovative design and/or surveying practice is integrated into their strategy, management and processes.

The  objective of the award is to encourage and profile those engaged in  research and innovation in the built environment.  We would encourage submissions that focus on the advance of theory or practice of design, architecture or surveying.   Applications that include aspects of integrated teams will be particularly welcome.

FAS is unique in its composition, representing  architecture, surveying and related consultancy disciplines within the CIOB

The 2008 winners received their award from Howard Shiplee Director of Construction at the Olympic Delivery Authority.  Commending the  winners, Tim Garnett and Jamie Bellingham of Wates Construction on their A90 – 60 Person Modular Prison Houseblock, Howard stated “Their award is a shining example of where design, utilising modern methods, provides an absolute fit with public need and reduces risk of planning uncertainty.

Design maximises off-site construction, minimising costs for managing construction within the secure environment of a prison.
