The Devon and Cornwall Training Network Sustainable Homes Conference

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

The Devon & Cornwall Training Network 2008 held it’s annual conference on 1st July entitled ‘Building Homes with a Greener Credential’.  The event concentrated on the changing requirements for Housing Associations to build homes that meet high ecological standards.

The CIOB was represented at this event by Steve Foxon, who held a workshop on the Employers Agent’s view on the Code.

Alongside Steve were workshops by Mi-Space & ZBed who presented  a workshop entitled ‘Achieving Code 4, 5 and 6! – yes really!’, Vertigo with ‘Creating Communities/Buildings that enable people to live sustainably’ & ‘Issues beyond the signing of the Code & how RSL’s are rising to the challenges of the Code’ and Tom Harper from the Genesis Centre with ‘Effects on smaller contractors – costs & skills’.

The CIOB was also represented by a promotional stand in the main exhibition of this event. This was manned by David Womersley MCIOB and Sarah Holborn, CA for Wessex and Exeter & South Devon Centres. Many new contacts were made and plenty of information on the CIOB was given out. The day was a great success and excellent feedback was received from all who attended regarding the quality of the speakers and exhibitors.
