Twenty-two members from the East Midlands Branch visited Calendonian Building Systems in Newark, Notthingshire on the 10th September 2008.
Calendonian Systems specialise in modular construction and have some very high projects to their credit. This type of building systems employing modern methods of construction have 60 years life span equivalent to brick/block construction and designed for 100 years.
The members were briefed by their Business Development Director Ian Kemp and later had a detailed tour of the manufacturing facilities. The introduction about pre-engineered buildings and the fact that Caledonian systems use more than 25% recycled products and buildings achieving excellent on BREEAM and Eco homes came as an eye opener, which was well appreciated by the attendees.
