The CIOB has been closely involved with developing the new Manifesto for the Built Environment from the Construction Industry Council (CIC). These manifestos were integral to the promotion of the construction industry at key events at the 2009 Liberal Democrat and the Labour party Conferences, and will be so at the Conservative Party conference which starts on the 5th of October. The CIOB have been actively involved with these meetings and Eddie Tuttle, CIOB Policy and Ambassador Manager, will Chair the event at the forthcoming Conservative Conference on 7 October. The audience at these events are mainly prospective parliamentary candidates, party luminaries including ministers/shadow minsters and we have been seeking comments from them for the final version which would be issued as soon as the General Election is called.
At the conferences, the ten point plan was highlighted as particularly helpful in focussing attention on how the built environment in partnership with government must strive to deliver a low carbon economy and provide a ‘value for money’ return on investment.
