Professional Review
The Professional Review is the final stage to gaining the CIOB Chartered qualification. All candidates who successfully complete the process are entitled to use the designation MCIOB. Applications can only be considered from those candidates who meet the academic requirements and can demonstrate the relevant experience. You can find out more on the Routes to Membership page.
Professional Review candidates will be assessed in the following areas: occupational competence, management competence and commitment to professionalism.
You can listen to the CIOB Special Projects Manager explain how the new Professional Review process is going to work. She responds to some of the most frequently asked questions.

In the UK and Ireland, as from 1 April a new process is in place. Overseas the new process will commence on 1 June and old style applications will be accepted up until 31 May 2012. |
Under the new system, in most cases, the Professional Review interview will be replaced by competence assessment as part of the application. There are two parts:
Part A
- Registration of Interest Form
- Two verified passport photos
Part B
- Application Form plus
- A copy of your most recent CV
- Current Job Description
- Training & Development Plan/Appraisal
- Employer or ‘other professional’ reference.
However, you may request or be asked to attend an interview.
The video provides more information on how the new system works as do these FAQs and the timelines.
If you have any queries, please email the Professional Review team.
