Routes to Membership (MCIOB)

Recent Graduate

The CIOB has a route tailor-made for those who have recently graduated with a CIOB accredited honours degree.

YOU HAVE:

  • A CIOB accredited honours degree
  • Less than three years' construction experience

Anyone holding a degree not accredited by the CIOB can apply for an individual assessment of their award.

FIRST STEP TO MEMBERSHIP:
Apply for Incorporate membership (ICIOB) (you will find the application form at the bottom of the page)

SECOND STEP:
Undertake the CIOB's Professional Development Programme (PDP) - designed to develop and assess your ability to work at a professional level.

FINAL STEP:
On completing the PDP, you will be ready to take the Professional Review

 

CASE STUDY: LUCYNDA JENSEN MCIOB

At just 24 years old, Lucynda Jensen is already carving out a successful career in construction with Bovis Lend Lease.

Working as a package manager, she has worked on some high profile projects, including the Adelaide Wharf development in London and the £70m Athlete's Village for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Lucynda is one of the Institute's youngest members with the MCIOB designation. Not only has membership helped her enhance her own professionalism and work on high progile projects, it will also be her passport to the world.

"My career choice will allow me to achieve my ambition of being able to live and work abroad. Construction is a truly global industry and being a member of the CIOB will help prepare me for the challenge of working overseas if and when the opportunity arises."
