Frameworks and Partnering Agreements CPD in association with RICS

21st June 2010

The Conference addressed Framework and Partnering Agreements. Guest speakers were Tony Pantling, Operations Director Skanska, Richard Cooke of Wollastons and John Conder, Partner,of Morgan Cole LLP. The topics covered were Framework and Partnering Agreements (including a Q&A Panel), Schools of the Future, PPC 2000 Contracts, followed by a Case Studies Workshop. The East of England Branch comprises over 4600 members and consists of seven centres; Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater Peterborough, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. The branch aims to serve its local members and raise the profile of the Institute in the Eastern region.

East of England Student Challenge 2010

The Student Challenge East of England heat was held on Tuesday 2nd March.

Congratulations to Anglia Ruskin University who won the challenge and represented the branch at the finals on 25th March. They did a fantastic job and finished 2nd overall. For a full report on this event, please click here.

Branch Chairman: Shaun Valentine FCIOB, East of England Branch Chairman and Essex Centre Chairman

Shaun began his Career as a Carpenter and Joiner before progressing into Site Management and Contract Management. Working for Blue Chip companies Shaun became a Construction Director in 2001.

In 2004 he formed Devcon UK LTD a Chartered Building and Training Consultancy. Shaun is Managing Director and a Fellow of the CIOB and also East of England Branch Chairman and a professional interview Chairman. He also lectures part time at the East London University and Oaklands College at Welwyn Garden City on the site management programmes.

Branch Manager: Sally Hill

Sally started her working life at Lloyds Bank and then continued the next 18 years working in the finance industry, including spells at Abbey National and Ernst & Young.

Sally joined the CIOB as a Centre Administrator in September 2007 and was promoted to Branch Manager in July 2008. Sally is enjoying the challenge of working in the Construction Industry.

Centre Administrator (Cambridgeshire, Greater Peterborough, Suffolk and Norfolk): Mandy Rix
	Mandy spent her first 25 years in the legal profession working up to Senior Secretary and worked for the Senior Partner for 21 years until his retirement. Centre Administrator (Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & Essex): Sam Briggs

Sam started her career in banking and then went on to working in accountancy. She was the marketing and administration manager in a top 20 firm for 12 years.

Sam has only recently joined the CIOB as Centre Administrator and is looking forward to being a part of this fantastic team.
