Mark Manning

Vance Babbage MCIOB. Vance served as an active South West Branch Chairman during the period 2008 - 2010 inclusive, handing over the Chain of Office to Nick King formerly at the AGM on the 8 June 2010. 

As our Immediate Past Chair, he still remains an active and focussed committee member, and has recently been elected as the South West Construction Industry Council Chairman (CIC SW).  In addition to this, he is also the Chair for the FMB Gloucester Branch and remains the Financial Manager for CIOB's Gloucester Centre.

With over 25 yeards experience, mainly with small and medium sized contractors, he is presently the MD for B&M Babbage Ltd, a Builders firm based in Cheltenahm and a Director for Hereford and Gloucester Safety Association.

Alun Hopkins FCIOB.  As Senior Vice Chairman for the South West Branch, Alun has served as both an active and dedicated committee representative for the Branch, his involvement included forming part of the Special Projects Committee for the South West Built Environment Awards, an event which is co-jointly run with CIOB in the South West and Constructing Excellence.

Senior Project Manager with Morgan Sindall, he recently completed a £22M office development for Defence Estates in Bristol.  Other Projects successfully managed include; BSF School in Bristol - £24M, Mental Health Hospital in Bristol - £38M, PFI Community Schools in Southampton - £48m and PFI Secondary Schools in Sheffield - £52M.

Alun trained as an Articled Pupil with John Laing Construction, and worked on a variety of major projects for over 30 years mainly with Laing Management.

Mark Manning MCIAT ICIOB.  Mark is our skillful and dedicated Branch Treasurer for the South West, doing a sterling job undertaking all our Branch finances with due care and diligence.

He is a Chartered Architectural Technologist with over 30 years drawing office and project management experience working in Local Government and in Private Practice.  At present, he is self-employed running an architectural and project management practice based in Wiltshire.

Mark also is our Time-zone representative on CIOB Members Forum for the South West region, an active Committee Member of the South West Built Environment Awards (SWBE) working in collaboration with Constructing Excellence South West.  Mark has previously served as Chairman and Finance Manager for the Wiltshire Centre.

Vincent Gunning FCIOB.  Vince is our Junior Vice Chair for the Branch and also an elected Ambassador for the CIOB, regularly offering his valuable contribution to all activities across the South West Branch footprint.

With over 25 years experience in construction management, Vince's present position is as Group Estates Delivery Manager with Debut, previously held Senior positions have included CH Pearce, Dean & Dyball, E W Beard and VINCI.  Amongst some of his credentials, he has been an Award winner for safety and environmental achievements.

Vince is our current Chairman for the Wiltshire Centre.  In addition to this, he has recently taken over from Alun Hopkins, as a Committee member for the South West Built Environment Awards (SWBE), a joint venture between CIOB South West and Constructing Excellence South West.

Jennifer Dale.  As Branch Manager for CIOB in the South West, Jennifer, along with her team of Administrators, provide support to the Branch and its respective Centre's across the regional branch footprint.

Jennifer supports the work of the Branch committee as a whole, assisting with event planning and regularly engaging with other professional bodies and Institutes raising the profile of the Institute in the South West region.  She also sits on the CIC South West committee, alongside Vance Babbage (Immediate Past Chair), as a regular contributor on behalf of the CIOB.

Part of Jennifer's role encompasses visiting Further Educational establishments and Employer's within the Construction Industry, to advise on the benefits of CIOB membership to students and professionals alike.

Jennifer has previously worked for Employer's Mott MacDonald Ltd, IPC Media Ltd and II the IV Productions, in positions of Senior Management for PR, support staff and administration.
