An Introduction from Danielle Baker, London Branch Manager

An Introduction from Danielle Baker, London Branch Manager
With over 4000 members in London we are becoming an integral part of the international voice of the Institute within the industry. We are proud that during 2009/10 the London Branch saw the highest increase in membership in the United Kingdom. We believe this is down to the success of the many new initiatives we launched and the constant feedback from our members which has helped us to evolve as a branch and to ensure we stay at the forefront of the industry.

Under the guidance of our Past Chair, Gillian Trodden FCIOB, we launched many new initiatives which have been embraced by other regions. Novus started its journey in London and we now have four groups actively working across the country with another two starting in the near future. One of our new Satellite groups has also gone on to become a strategy group for the Institute. In July 2010 we launched the new Membership Assistance Programme (MAP). MAP is designed to assist members to achieve the correct level of membership. You will be provided with a one to one mentor who will assist you with the Professional Review or the Fellowship application. If you are interested in receiving assistance or would like to become a mentor please do not hesitate to contact me. Full details of the MAP initiative can be found in the document below, or on our news page.

MAP Objectives and disclaimer document link.

Our new Chair, Donald Mahon MCIOB who is also the Vice Chair for the Institutes Members Forum, will be working closely on the new Membership Assistance Programme Panel. Donald comes to us with a wealth of experience of the Institute and the Branch. Under Donald’s chairmanship we will be looking to expand our network of Satellite Groups. London launched 2 Satellite Groups during the past year, The University of East London SG and the Sustainability Strategy Group; we hope to launch our 3rd SG by the end of 2010. We will also be increasing the number of membership workshops we hold within companies, if you feel that it would be beneficial for a CIOB membership workshop to be held at your company premises please do not hesitate to contact me. All workshops are offered free of charge and can be tailored to suit your companies specific requirements.

We are here to help you get the best from your membership your branch and your Institute! We hope to hear from you with suggestions of CPD topics, venues, events, possible Satellite Groups and are also here to assist with your membership enquiries.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

London Events

All of our events are open to Members and Non-Members so please do feel free to bring along colleagues and friends who may also benefit. We also strive hard to provide an informative and interesting CPD programme with plenty of opportunity for networking as well! Your support with this is vital; please do email suggestions to us of CPD speakers, topics, site visits or venues. There are many ways for you to become involved and make a change within the branch, and the opportunities are there to be grasped!

Your Contact Details

It is imperative that you keep you details up to date in the members section of our website, this will allow us to keep you posted on all of the branch initiatives via e-mail or post depending on your preferences. This is also where you will keep a record of your attendance at CPD events and this is something which you will regularly have to update as we no longer issue hard copies of CPD certificates. The majority of our communication is now via HTML, all HTML’s come from Danielle, Claire or Marie and contain important information regarding the branch, so please do open them and have a read!
