Westfield Shopping Centre - CIOB & APM cpd eventOn the 19 July, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Derby chapter of the Association for Project Management hosted their first ever joint event. In a full room, Keith Whitmore, Director of Design & Construction at Westfield discussed the conception, planning and delivery of large-scale retail-led developments such as Westfield London and Stratford City, which forms part of the 2012 Olympic site. |

Meet the Committee - Barry Grimes21 June 2010 Barry Grimes joined the construction industry in 1960 as an apprentice bricklayer in Newbury, Berkshire; moving to Gilbert-Ash Southern (then part of Bovis Construction) as a trainee site manager in 1966 where he worked on projects in Basingstoke, new Housing for GLC and Aldershot Army Camp Rebuilding as well as Woking and Camberley town centre redevelopments. He attended Reading College of Technology, gaining ONC and HNC before moving on to CIOB examinations for membership where he gained the Institute’s Silver Medal in 1973 for his Building Technology Paper. |

He is a Chartered Builder, Chartered Surveyor, Corporate Building Surveyor, Corporate Building Engineer and an Architectural Historian. |

Meet the Novus Committee - Alistair O'ReillyAlistair is a graduate of Loughborough University, having obtained a first class honours degree in Construction Engineering Management in 2008. He is currently working for Laing O’Rourke, who he first joined in 2004 as a sponsored student, where he is approaching the end of their 36 month long graduate development program. |
