Coventry Centre
Overview
I was delighted to be elected as the Coventry & Warwickshire Chairman for 2008. Our Centre has 534 members making up 19.1% of the total Branch membership. However, I would be the first to admit that support for events held in our area has diminished over recent years, a situation that is being experienced in many places across the country. | |
| Secondly we wish to improve on the delivery and quality of our events and seminars. Clearly in our industry, support for the “home” geographical centre is not necessarily easy. Many of you will travel across or even out of the region to your office desk and probably even further if you are site based. We therefore realise that members’ interests are best served, by providing access to a wide range of events that support the continuing professional development of the member, wherever they may work or live. We also intend to share more events and seminars across the region with other professional bodies in the industry, giving greater potential for business and social networking. In conclusion, may I say that the success of any body depends upon the contribution and support of its members. Please take a look at the event calendar and come along to a few events. If you have thoughts or ideas on what we can do to improve what and how we do things, please let me know. Only member support will ensure that the CIOB is sustained and in turn its members continue to be recognised as leaders in the construction industry.
