North Wales Centre

It is with great pride and achievement, as well as a sense of honour, that I have taken over as Centre Chairman of the CIOB North Wales and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my wife, family, fellow members and friends in fully supporting me in my career, which has enabled me to fulfil my aspiration of becoming Centre Chairman.

I have been involved with this successful Centre since my introduction to the construction industry as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor in 1995, and an active member of the Committee for the past 24 months and have greatly enjoyed assisting in the group’s activities and ensuring  its long term development. I became an Incorporated Member of the Institute during December 2005. Personally, I view this involvement as a positive way of giving something back to the local industry I greatly enjoy being a part of.

During the day I fulfil the role of Commercial Director for Pentagon Construction Limited who are a main contracting organisation based in Flintshire, North Wales.

A summary of the North Wales Centre’s long term strategy would include the following:-

·         Develop links with other Professional bodies and develop joint events.

·         Ensure a point of contact at a local level for all members/ non – members.

·         Increase and maintain activity with Students and Higher Education Centres.

·         Plan and deliver a successful and relevant CPD programme of events.

·         Sustain and develop the Committee and Centre to ensure long term growth.

The North Wales Centre is very successful and this is only possible with the ongoing attendance and support of its members, and for this the Committee expresses its thanks. We welcome non members and members of other Professional Bodies to our events, and are actively encouraging joint events and those which engage with Students on Construction Related Courses. We are also keen to engage with new members and are available to discuss membership queries.

The Committee welcome all comments and feedback and if you have a suggestion for a presentation topic then please let us know about it. We want the events to be relevant as well as interesting, all feedback will be considered on individual merit.  New committee members are also always welcome.

We are currently compiling a full diary of CPD events to commence in September 2009 and we hope you will continue to support us. We are considering alternative venues for this year and Llandrillo College is a hot favourite, watch this space!
