Nick Acheson - Centre Chair

2009 was a very good year for the Wessex Centre with it fulfilling its objective of ‘less is more’ by concentrating resources on producing a smaller number of high quality CPD events. We have enjoyed record attendances by members at a number of events and seen increases in attendance by both non-CIOB members and students.

The year ended on a really high note with the Ruby Ball, where the local membership and guests danced the night away to the sounds of ‘Thick of Thieves’ at the Holiday Inn at Taunton – this event commemorated not only 175 years of the CIOB but 40 years of the Wessex Centre and raised a substantial sum of money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Many thanks to our sponsors, NPS Group & S Roberts who helped make this possible

The committee has been very proactive in obtaining excellent speakers for the coming year to present at events on a number of diverse and interesting subjects. This coupled with the careful selection of high quality venues it is hoped will ensure the necessary interest from the local membership.

Our events for the coming year include : -

·          Historic Timber Repairs - Tailored Solutions

·          Site Visit to Taunton Museum with Pollards

·          AGM & General Knowledge Fun Quiz
