2010 was a very good year for the Wessex Centre with it fulfilling its objective of ‘less is more’ by concentrating resources on producing a smaller number of high quality CPD events. We have enjoyed record attendances by members at a number of events and seen increases in attendance by both non-CIOB members and students.
The committee has been very proactive in obtaining excellent speakers for the coming year to present at events on a number of diverse and interesting subjects. This coupled with the careful selection of high quality venues it is hoped will ensure the necessary interest from the local membership.
Our CPD events for the coming year include : -
· Building Regulations Update on Parts F, G, J & L with Butler and Young
· Historic Timber repairs – ‘A project managed with a Twist’ by Patrick Stowe
· Site Visit to the Somerset Museum project
· Legal Workshop in 2 parts concentrating on final accounts with Humphries Kirk
. Breem Standard update with Ecofirst
· AGM & General Knowledge Fun Quiz
The year will end on a really high note with the Wessex Center Charity Gala Ball, where the local membership and guests will feast and dance the night away at the Holiday Inn at Taunton. Following the huge success of the Ruby Ball 2 years ago it has been decided to repeat this event, once again in support of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. So ensure that you keep the 17th September clear in your diary and book early to avoid disappointment.
