About the Library
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) represents on behalf of the public the most diverse set of professionals in the construction industry. The CIOB aims to create an industry where excellence prospers, and in so doing, sets the pace on a global scale for the education and professionalism of those who manage the construction of the built environment.
The Library and Information Services resource is a key tool in terms of providing a research and education facility to meet the information needs of our members, who in turn go on to develop and enhance the industry for the public good.
The Library currently holds more than 60,000 global publications, including: academic and industry research, codes of practice, technical guidance papers, theses and journals, management books and DVDs, as well as a substantial archive of material collated from the early days of the Institute.
Recently, the service has focused on providing online and interactive media, including e-journals and provisions to make e-books and research databases available online. The Library's new web-based catalogue supports a full text search facility and more intuitive navigation process - bringing the media of the service right up-to-date and making information more accessible to all members, both in the UK and overseas.
