Paul Morrell OBE, HM Government's Chief Construction Advisor gave a keynote speech on "De-carbonising the industry - are we fit for the future?" for the CIOB at Ecobuild on 4 March 2010.

Paul's seminar came ahead of the publication of the Innovation and Growth Team's (IGT) Emerging Findings Report - a team led by Paul that is tasked with addressing the readiness of the UK construction industry to rise to the challenge of the low carbon agenda. (Read more)

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), in partnership with the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), has launched an interactive broadcast to give guidance on implementing a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP). Contributors include DEFRA, Wates Construction, UK Green Building Council, John Lewis, North Bristol NHS, White Design, Davis Langdon, Taylor Woodrow and Skanska.


The webcast of the CIOB's Annual celebration at the Guildhall is now available. Featuring speeches from CIOB President Professor Li Shirong, Balfour Beatty Chief Executive Ian Tyler and Sir Bob Kerslake, Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)

This is the first in the series of the 'Are You Ready...' broadcasts, aimed at raising awareness of topical industry issues.

Key construction industry speakers shared their views on the future of the industry at The CIOB's Ecobuild seminar on 27 February 2008. Speakers included Norbet Young, President of McGraw-Hill Construction, Professor Li Shirong, CIOB Vice President, Bridgette Gasa, Executive Manager: Infrastructure Development - Coega Development Corporation, and Bob White, Chairman of Constructing Excellence.

Set once again at the stunning Guildhall in London. Key speeches, amongst others, come from Martin Chambers, CIOB President and John Armitt, Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

The CIOB, together with City law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP (BLP), looked into the ongoing investigation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) into alleged bid rigging by construction companies in England, and presented this seminar on 26 November 2007. Listen to presentations from Deborah Jones, Deputy Cartels Director of the OFT, David Harrison, BLP's Head of EU & Competition and Adrian Magnus, an EU & Competition Partner at BLP.

The CIOB Annual Dinner, held at London's Guildhall is the premier construction industry event of the year. 2007 saw key speeches from Professor Roger Flanagan, CIOB Past President and Ray O'Rourke, Chairman of Laing O'Rourke.
